Serve Robotics Sinks 7% as Guidance Cut Overshadows Grubhub Deal; Symbotic Drops 5%, DoorDash Ticks Up

Serve Robotics (NASDAQ: SERV) cut 2026 revenue guidance to $9 million-$10 million from $26 million as Uber Eats volumes weakened, overshadowing Grubhub and DoorDash expansion amid elevated cash burn, valuation, short interest and macro risks.
Serve Robotics fell 7% to $4.55 Tuesday, reversing Monday’s Grubhub-fueled rally and leaving shares down 56% year to date. The autonomous-delivery company reduced 2026 revenue guidance after its August 6 earnings report, citing softer Uber Technologies (NYSE: UBER) Uber Eats volumes. Second-quarter revenue reached $3.2 million, up 404% year over year, helped by the Diligent acquisition completed in January. First-half revenue was $6.2 million, but Uber Eats delivery volume declined for the first time since 2022. CEO Ali Kashani attributed the decline to operating-model changes and fleet integration while saying robot-delivery demand remains strong. Uber sold its Serve stake this year, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Grubhub agreement, with Grubhub owned by private company Wonder, extends robot delivery to nearly 200 Los Angeles restaurants, more than 100 Chicago merchants and Alexandria, Virginia. Serve also expanded DoorDash (NASDAQ: DASH) coverage into San Jose and Washington, D.C., adding roughly eight million people to its addressable market. DoorDash deliveries grew nearly 50% in one quarter. Serve reported a GAAP loss exceeding $113 million in the first half, with $240 million in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities on June 30. Short interest reached 31.9%, and the stock traded at approximately 46 times sales. More than 2,000 Gen 3 robots serve about three million people and over 4,000 restaurants. Diligent’s Moxi 2.0 hospital robot is rolling out; Beacon, a countertop device, was previewed alongside a Miami micro-depot model. DoorDash rose 3% to $218.53 and appears the clearest beneficiary; second-quarter revenue was $4.45 billion, up 35.6%, though shares remain down 6% year to date. Uber rose 1% to $76.02 and remains down 8%; its Serve contract runs through early 2027, protecting 40 Los Angeles neighborhoods near term. Symbotic (NASDAQ: SYM) fell 5% to $40.29 after Q3 FY2026 GAAP EPS of $0.09 missed $0.1268 consensus; shares are down 29% year to date. Richtech Robotics (NASDAQ: RR) is down 47%. Symbotic must execute against Q4 revenue guidance of $760 million-$780 million. ROBO declined 3% to $81.96 but remains up 22% year to date; QQQ fell 1.66%. A Wall Street Journal report cited roughly $3 trillion in off-balance-sheet commitments across nine major technology companies, mostly AI-related. The 30-year Treasury yield approached 5.29% after exceeding 5.33%, pressuring speculative growth valuations. Investors should watch whether Serve holds above $4.50 and whether DoorDash and Grubhub offset Uber Eats weakness. Position sizing should remain modest given valuation, cash burn and execution risk.
