PancakeSwap's Fee Vote Trades Token Emissions for Provider Revenue
PancakeSwap's TVL rose to $2.4 billion as users voted on shifting more fees to liquidity providers and cutting daily CAKE emissions by about 69%.
PancakeSwap's total value locked rose nearly 19% in a week to about $2.4 billion as its community began voting on a fee overhaul called The Flip. Most of the increase came from V3 pools, where TVL more than doubled to about $739 million.
The proposal would raise liquidity providers' share of swap fees on V3 and Infinity pools to 88%, from roughly 66% to 68% on most pools. Daily CAKE emissions would fall from 22,500 tokens to 7,000, a reduction of about 69%.
The design aims to reward liquidity with trading fees while reducing token inflation. It can improve economics if volume remains high enough to compensate providers. If fee revenue disappoints, lower emissions may make pools less competitive.
PancakeSwap handled about $4.67 billion of BNB Chain trading volume over seven days, roughly 71% of the network total in the source data. BNB Chain also held about $2.33 billion of PancakeSwap's liquidity, showing heavy dependence on one ecosystem.
Voting runs through October 24, with implementation expected in November if approved. Investors should distinguish a proposal from a completed change. The decisive evidence will be the final vote, implementation, post-change liquidity, volume and CAKE supply growth.
