Nurix Therapeutics Announces Appointment of Wes Burwell as Chief Human Resources Officer
The appointment brings more than 20 years of life sciences human resources leadership as Nurix advances late-stage clinical programs, prepares for commercialization and expands its targeted protein degradation platform.
Nurix Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: NRIX), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Brisbane, California, announced Aug. 20, 2026, that Wes Burwell has joined as chief human resources officer and a member of its Executive Management Team. Burwell will lead human resources as Nurix transitions from a research and early clinical-stage company toward a fully integrated biopharmaceutical organization. The company said he will help build the capabilities, leadership and culture needed to advance its late-stage pipeline and prepare for commercialization while maintaining its targeted protein degradation research position. Burwell brings more than 20 years of experience helping life sciences organizations progress from research and clinical development through commercialization. He previously served as vice president of human resources at Bolt Biotherapeutics. At Global Blood Therapeutics, he supported rapid growth from early clinical development through commercialization of its first therapy, leading talent acquisition, leadership development and employee engagement. He holds an M.B.A. in International Business from the University of San Francisco and a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from Golden Gate University. Nurix’s clinical-stage oncology pipeline includes bexobrutideg, a BTK degrader co-developed with Roche, and NX-1607, an inhibitor of Casitas B-lineage lymphoma proto-oncogene B (CBL-B), an E3 ligase regulating T-cell and NK-cell activation. Its autoimmune pipeline includes bexobrutideg with Roche, IRAK4 degraders with Gilead and STAT6 degraders with Sanofi. The company is also developing potentially first-in-class or best-in-class degraders and degrader antibody conjugates through its wholly owned preclinical pipeline and collaborations with Gilead Sciences, Inc., Sanofi S.A. and Pfizer Inc. Nurix retains certain U.S. options for co-development, co-commercialization and profit sharing on multiple candidates. The appointment supports organizational scaling, but execution remains exposed to clinical, regulatory, commercialization and operating risks. Nurix cautioned that forward-looking statements, including Burwell’s expected contributions, involve material risks described in its Form 10-Q for the period ended May 31, 2026, and subsequent SEC filings.
