La-Z-Boy (LZB) Misses Q1 Earnings and Revenue Estimates

La-Z-Boy reported adjusted earnings below expectations and lower year-over-year revenue for the quarter ended July 2026. Its Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) reflects mixed estimate revisions, while industry strength, management commentary and upcoming forecasts remain key investor considerations.

La-Z-Boy Incorporated (LZB) reported adjusted quarterly earnings of $0.43 per share, below the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.48 and down from $0.47 a year earlier. The result represented a negative earnings surprise of 10.42%. In the preceding quarter, analysts expected $0.82 per share, but the furniture company delivered $1.26, a positive surprise of 53.66%. Over the last four quarters, La-Z-Boy exceeded consensus EPS estimates three times. Revenue for the quarter ended July 2026 was $475.69 million, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 4.8% and declining from $492.23 million a year earlier. The company has beaten consensus revenue estimates in three of the past four quarters. La-Z-Boy shares have gained approximately 11.4% since the beginning of the year, compared with a 13.1% advance for the S&P 500. The stock’s immediate reaction and the durability of any price movement will depend largely on management’s commentary during the earnings call. Investors should monitor post-release earnings estimate revisions, which research indicates are strongly correlated with near-term stock performance. La-Z-Boy’s revision trend was mixed before the report, resulting in a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), implying expected market-like performance in the near term. Revisions could change following the results. The current consensus forecast calls for $0.72 per share on $537.44 million of revenue in the coming quarter, and $2.98 per share on $2.17 billion of revenue for the current fiscal year. Industry conditions are another consideration. Furniture ranks in the top 11% of more than 250 Zacks industries, and Zacks research says industries in the top 50% outperform those in the bottom 50% by more than 2 to 1. Peer Hooker Furnishings Corp. (HOFT) has not yet reported for the quarter ended July 2026. Its expected loss is $0.02 per share, representing a year-over-year change of +93.6%, while revenue is projected at $63.76 million, down 22.4%. Its consensus EPS estimate has been unchanged for 30 days.
