IQVIA's AI-Enabled Clinical Decision Support Tool Wins 2026 AI Breakthrough Award for Predictive Modeling Solution of the Year
IQVIA’s award-winning diabetes tool cut chart-review workloads by 99.5% and increased diagnostic yield, highlighting a potential commercial application for its healthcare data, analytics and responsible-AI capabilities.
IQVIA (NYSE:IQV) announced Aug. 20, 2026, that its AI-enabled Clinical Decision Support Tool won the 2026 AI Breakthrough Award for Predictive Modeling Solution of the Year. Developed with Breakthrough T1D, a global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy nonprofit, the tool addresses the persistent misclassification of adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) as having type 2 diabetes (T2D). Misclassification can delay appropriate treatment and increase the risk of serious, potentially life-threatening complications. The tool reduced screening workloads by 99.5%, narrowing reviews from approximately 60,000 patients to 300—roughly 200 times fewer chart reviews. Diagnostic yield increased approximately 127-fold: 28% of flagged patients were confirmed or suspected to have T1D, compared with a 0.22% baseline. Configured to help providers address delayed diagnosis, missed monitoring and under-treatment, the tool is designed to accelerate appropriate treatment, reduce complication risks and improve long-term outcomes. Powered by IQVIA Healthcare-grade AI®, it adds to the company’s portfolio of AI solutions. The AI Breakthrough Awards recognize innovation and performance across the global AI market. For investors, the award and workflow results offer evidence of a practical clinical use case for IQVIA’s technology platform, although broader adoption and execution will determine its longer-term commercial contribution. IQVIA says its solutions combine IQVIA Connected Intelligence™, health data, advanced analytics, technology and domain expertise. The company emphasizes responsible AI, privacy, regulatory compliance, patient safety, trust, scalability and precision. It employs approximately 94,000 people in more than 100 countries and serves life sciences and healthcare customers, including pharmaceutical companies, medical-device firms, researchers, government agencies and payers.
