Hims Launches Men's Weight-Loss Care in Germany

Hims Launches Men's Weight-Loss Care in Germany

Hims began offering online weight-loss care for men in Germany, extending its cash-pay model. The launch broadens the market but came without revenue or margin guidance.

Hims & Hers has launched online weight-loss care for men in Germany, extending its international strategy after the Eucalyptus acquisition. The shares rose about 4% on the day cited by the source, but the company did not disclose financial targets for the new service.

Germany is potentially attractive for a cash-pay model because statutory insurance generally does not cover weight-loss medicines. That can create demand among customers willing to pay directly for clinical access and ongoing support. It also means affordability and retention may depend heavily on pricing.

The launch should not be treated as proof of material revenue. Hims must acquire customers, comply with German medical and advertising rules, manage drug supply and deliver care that produces repeat use. International growth has also coincided with pressure on profitability. The source says second-quarter gross margin fell to 64% from 76% a year earlier.

For investors, the useful metrics are customer additions, average revenue per subscriber, treatment retention and contribution margin in Germany. Management should also clarify how much of the service uses its own platform versus local clinical partners.

The announcement supports the view that Hims can reuse its consumer-health model outside the United States. The financial effect remains unquantified. The next quarterly report can strengthen the case by showing that international revenue is growing without another sharp decline in consolidated gross margin.
