Enphase Moves Solid-State Transformer Modules Into Texas Production as AI Power Opportunity Grows

Enphase began producing 4 kW IQ solid-state transformer modules in Texas for systems scaling up to 5 MW. The architecture targets AI data-center power conversion and marks a tangible step beyond the company’s traditional solar-inverter business.

Enphase’s push into AI data-center power moved from concept toward manufacturing with a new production milestone in Texas.

The supplied source says power modules for the company’s IQ Solid-State Transformer are now being built at its Arlington, Texas facility.

Each module is rated at 4 kW, and hundreds can be combined into a rack with capacity of up to 5 MW.

Loading market context

The system is designed to convert medium-voltage AC at 13.8 kV or 34.5 kV directly to 800-volt DC, targeting the power architecture used around dense AI compute.

That is strategically important because Enphase has historically been known for solar microinverters and residential energy systems, not hyperscale data-center infrastructure.

The company is trying to reuse manufacturing capabilities from its microinverter platform rather than build an entirely new production model from scratch.

The supplied source also says Enphase is engaging with hyperscalers, neoclouds, colocation providers, engineering firms and server vendors, with RFI and RFP opportunities representing multiple gigawatts of potential demand.

The stock rose about 5% on the announcement, while SolarEdge gained roughly 6% despite having no same-day company news.

That sympathy move shows how investors are beginning to treat solid-state transformer technology as a new adjacent market for solar-power electronics companies.

The opportunity remains early. Production of modules does not mean large commercial orders are already secured, and customer pilots still need to prove reliability, economics and integration at data-center scale.

BTI’s bottom line: Enphase now has a tangible manufacturing foothold in AI power infrastructure. The 4 kW module and 5 MW rack architecture make the strategy more credible, but the investment case still depends on converting multi-gigawatt customer interest into signed deployments.

The next proof point is commercial traction. Investors should watch whether the current multi-gigawatt RFI and RFP pipeline produces named customers, pilot deployments and revenue before assigning a large valuation premium to the new platform.
