<p>With US and European stocks moving lower, bitcoin is following the risk-off sentiment. However, the move also has a technical catalyst: a break below the consolidation range that had contained the price since October 22.</p><p>That range extended from $79,146 on the downside to $81,930 on the topside. Over the last 24 hours, sellers pushed through the floor, triggering downside momentum that carried the price to $76,320.</p><p>The break gave sellers more control. The question now is whether they can extend that advantage through the next key support area.</p><p>Buyers find a reason to lean against support</p><p></p><p>The low stalled about $174 above the rising 100-day moving average at $76,146. Just below that moving average sits the 38.2% retracement of the advance from the late-June low at $76,052.</p><p>Together, those levels create a support zone between $76,052 and $76,146.</p><p>When two technical measures converge, they give traders a more clearly defined area to assess the next move. Dip buyers can lean against that support with limited risk, provided they are prepared to exit if the price breaks below and stays below it.</p><p>That does not guarantee a lasting bottom. It gives buyers a location where the potential reward can be weighed against a defined risk.</p><p>The initial rebound carried bitcoin to $78,559, but buyers could not sustain the recovery. The price has since rotated back toward $77,208, keeping the support zone in focus.</p><p>The old floor becomes the upside barometer</p><p>For buyers, holding support is only the first step. They also need to reclaim broken resistance.</p><p>The key level is $79,146, the former floor of the consolidation range. A break below support often turns that same level into resistance as sellers lean against it and trapped buyers use a rebound to exit.</p><p>As long as bitcoin stays below $79,146, sellers retain the advantage from the breakdown. A recovery above that level—and an ability to stay above it—would raise the possibility of a failed break lower.</p><p>That would start to worry sellers looking for further downside and put the upper boundary of the old range at $81,930 back on the radar.</p><p>Before then, the rebound high at $78,559 provides an interim upside hurdle.</p><p>Sellers need to break the support confluence</p><p>For sellers, the next task is clear: push below the 100-day moving average at $76,146 and the 38.2% retracement at $76,052, then keep the price below that area.</p><p>The 38.2% retracement is an important barometer when assessing a correction within a broader advance. Holding above it keeps the pullback relatively contained. Breaking below it would strengthen the case that a deeper correction is developing.</p><p>A brief move below support followed by a quick recovery would be less convincing. Sellers need sustained trading below the zone to confirm that the next downside break has traction.</p><p>Let the levels define the risk</p><p>War uncertainty, inflation concerns, worries about slower growth, and falling stock markets make the bearish case easy to understand. The break away from the 100- and 200-hour moving averages, followed by the move below consolidation support, adds technical weight to that story.</p><p>Nevertheless, a bearish narrative still needs a risk level.</p><p>For sellers, $79,146 is the key upside barometer. A sustained recovery above it would weaken the breakdown.</p><p>For dip buyers, $76,052–$76,146 is the key support zone. A sustained break below it would undermine the argument for buying against that confluence.</p><p>The battle lines are drawn.
